Designer Crush: Tamsin Johnson

Style

Tamsin Johnson is new to me, but as soon as she came on my radar, I fell in love with her interior design style. The daughter of antique dealers, her spaces are such a fun mix of colorful, textured, antique and modern furnishings and lighting. Somehow, she ensures that everything has room to breathe and makes a statement. I especially love how she dynamically pairs pieces of different shapes (round, oval, square) in complimentary colors, with others of seemingly opposite materials. Like I said, every piece sings and winks at you. There’s definitely a light hearted vibe throughout her portfolio. Much to learn from her in terms of keeping your eyes out for special art, mirrors, lighting and furniture when shopping. Look at new, old, casual, and formal and mix it up! Her new book, Tamsin Johnson: Spaces for Living is one of my favorite new design resources. Stunning photography shows off her many projects from her personal homes to those of clients and also her husband’s atelier in Melbourne. Enjoy!
